Portugal’s alternative to Uber and Bolt: POP signs up 2,000 passengers and 500 drivers in 10 days

The POP platform launched in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley on October 1. According to the company, more than 2,000 passengers and around 500 drivers signed up in its first 10 days. These are registrations, not completed rides (Lusa).

Alongside regular rides, the service offers Lady POP, which lets female passengers choose a female driver; Sénior POP, with extra assistance for older passengers; and PET POP for trips with animals. Drivers pay a 15% commission on the fare, excluding VAT.

The service is set to launch in Porto, Braga and Guimarães in the coming days. If you often travel with a pet or are looking for an alternative to the usual ride-hailing apps, POP may be worth trying once more drivers are on the platform.
